He has over 40 years experience of aquatic ecology, field and lab studies on effects of eutrophication, heavy metals, grazing impacts on macrophytes, etc. and a wide range of equipment experience including SCUBA.
Specifically relevant to the proposal Barry has been carrying out the Marine Monitoring Programme of MECA, coral reef projects including artificial reef studies and reef surveys, and studies on red tides, marine mortalities and fish bioassay.
He has published articles and papers on artificial reef communities on Reef Balls in Oman including coral growth and supervised 3 M. Sc. projects on Reef Ball studies.
From May 2001 to November 2010, Barry was employed as the Expert in Marine Pollution Monitoring Section, within the Ministry of Environment & Climate Affairs.
Responsibilities included the review of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA’s) submitted for Permits in coastal development projects, site visits/inspections, development of marine monitoring at Sohar Industrial Port Area, carrying out the Marine Monitoring Programme of MECA, coral reef projects including artificial reef studies and reef surveys, and studies on red tides, marine mortalities and fish bioassay.
Dr Jupp is a qualified and experienced environmental educator with experience to University level.
